About us

"When I first started learning to drive horses I couldn't find much up-to-date information about the topic nor about local events, drives or shows. I was lucky to find a patient and experienced trainer - by word of mouth - and to find a pony who loved being driven and a friendly British Driving Society group and a welcoming local driving club.

It has been great fun learning together, trying different activities and we have made many new friends. Driving is an activity that's accessible to everyone - you can watch and enjoy the tradition, the spit and polish of the show ring or heavy horses or the coaching brigade; marvel at the speed of the scurry ponies or obstacle driving indoors and out, admire the elegance of driven dressage, and join in the fun and camaraderie of pleasure driving.

You can join in as a passenger, groom or backstepper on the carriage or as a helper at a local show, club or group, whatever your age, income or ability. If you are lucky enough to own your own driving horse and carriage, it's pleasant to combine driving and the company of friends and family.

I believe that Inharness magazine is useful to drivers and friends of horse driving alike. It's a regular source of information about events, new products, tips and ideas - a unique body of knowledge about people, horses and harness, carriages, news, views and opinions collected in one specialist magazine. Make sure of your copy and subscribe today!"
